Prof. Tong-Earn TAY
Prof. Tay earned his Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from University of Meulborne, AUstralia in 1989 and shortly after that pursue his academic career as professor at National University of Singapore (NUS) until today . His current research interests are in modeling of progressive damage, failure, fracture, impact and computational analysis of composite materials and structures, multi-scale modeling, natural fibre composites, hybrid composites, molecular mechanics of polymers and composites. He has served on a number of scientific advisory committees of international conferences on composites and editorial boards of international journals. Prof Tay is a recipient of JEC Asia Life Achievement Award, a registered Professional Engineer (PE), Founding Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering (FSAE) and Council Member of the Asian-Australasian Association for Composite Materials. He was Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore, from Oct 2011 to Dec 2015, and Vice-Dean for Research from Nov 2009 to Sep 2011.
